මහනුවර නගරය

මහනුවරට අලුත්‍ පණකි දළදා මාලිගාව.දළදා මාලිගාව පිහිටි නගරය මහනුවර. මහනුවර නගරය වසර අ.වු. 2000 පමන පරන නගරයකි. (මහනුවර නගරය) පළමුව ඉදිකල රජු 1 වික්මභාහු රජුය. මහනුවර නගරය ජනතාව අධික නගරයකී. මහනුවර නගරය සෙංකඩගල නගරය (මහනුවර නගරය) ලංකාවේ දෙවන විශාලම නගරයයි. වර්තමානයේ ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාව පිහිටා ඇත්තේ මෙහිය. මෙය කඳුවලින් වටවී ඇති මහනුවර සානුවෙහි පිහිටා ඇත. මහනුවර නගරය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ නගර අතරින් ඉතාමත් විචිත්‍ර වූ නගර වලින් එකකි. මෙය මහනුවර, මාතලේ, නුවරඑළිය යන දිස්ත්‍රික්ක වලින් සැදුම් ලත් මධ්‍යම පළාතේ අගනගරයයි. මෙය යුනෙස්කෝව විසින් ලෝක උරුමයක් ලෙස නම් කර ඇත. ඓතිහාසික ලේඛනයන්ට අනුව මහනුවර මුල්වරට ගොඩ නගා ඇත්තේ වික්‍රමබාහු රජු විසිනි ඔහු මෙය වර්තමාන නගරයට උතුරින් පිහිටි වටපුළුව ප්‍රදේශයේ ගොඩ නගා එයට ‘සෙංකඩගලපුර’ යන නම දී ඇත. සෙංකඩගලපුර නම ලැබීමට නිශ්චිත හේතුවක් දැනට සොයා ගෙන නැති අතර, ඉතිහාසන්යන් පවසන්නේ නගරය ආසන්නයේ ගුහාවක වැඩ වාසය කල ‘සෙංකන්ඩ’ නැමැති තාපසයෙකුගේ නමින් මෙය නම් කරන්නට ඇති බවයි. මෙය රජුගේ ‘සෙංකන්ඩ’ නමැති බිසවක මුල් කරගෙන හෝ සෙංකඩගල නම් වර්ණිත පාෂාණයක් මුල් කරගෙන නම් කරන්නට ඇති බව අනෙක් මතයි.1592 වර්ෂයේදී මහනුවර ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ අවසාන ස්වාධීන රාජධානියෙහි අග නගරය බවට පත්විය. 16, 17, 18 යන ශත වර්ෂ වලදී ඇති වූ පෘතුගීසි, ලන්දේසි ආක්‍රමණද අවසාන ලෙස බ්‍රිතාන්‍යය ආක්‍රමණයන්ද සාර්ථකව මැඩපවත්වන ලදි. මහනුවර 19 වන ශත වර්ෂය තෙක් ස්වාධීන රාජ්‍යයක් ලෙස පැවතිනි. ඉන් පසු බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයන් සමඟ ඇති වූ දෙවන මහනුවර සංග්‍රාමයේදී බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයන් 1815 පෙබරවාරි මස 15 වන දින නගරය වෙත ලගාවෙන ලදි. 1815 මාර්තු 2 වන දින ‘උඩරට ගිවිසුම’ මගින් මහනුවර ඇතුලු සමස්තත දිවයිනම බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයන්ගේ යටත් විජිතයක් බවට පත් විය. ඉන්පසු බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයන්ට විරුද්ධව සිදුවූ අරගල ගන්නාවක ප්‍රතිපලයක් ලෙස 1948 පෙබරවාරි 4 දින මහනුවර ඇතුලු ශ්‍රී ලංකාව නැවතත් ස්වධීන රාජ්‍යයයක් බවට පත් විය.

My favorite city

There are many cities in Sri Lanka.of them, Anuradapura is my favorite city. I like it because it is an ancient city. On the other hand, Anuradapura was the first kingdom of Sri Lanka and also, it is the first capital in Sri Lanka. Anuradapura is in the north central province. There fore, it belongs to the dry zone.Anuradapura is famous for ruins. There are many ruins in Anuradapura.Most of them are the ruins of old palaces and antient. There are many reseviors in Anuradapura.some of them are this wava, Kala wava, Nuwara wava and Basavapkulama wava.Also, There are many pagodas in Anuradapura.some of them are.

A journey in a Hot air Balloon.

Would you like to enjoy in the sky in a hot air balloon?
Five friends get tog ether on a holiday. They are a teacher, a doctor. A farmer, a Policeman and an architect. They get on to a hot air balloon and the journey starts. When they are high up in the sky, suddenly the balloon becomes cool and starts to fall down. To fall down. To prevent any disaster one has to be thrown five minutes. Each one volunteers to jump out to save his friends.

The comb of banana.

I wish to speak on the significance of the banana in our day to day life. The comb of banana too is culturally important like the sheaf of betel. The cobo of bananas is favored as a gift. It occupies a significant place in the traditional table laid along with other sweet meats like keven (oil cakes), kakis, and milkrice. The comb of bananas too cuts across social distinctions. A poor man could offer a comb of bananas from his crop to the richest man and no distinctions are made.
The comb of bananas occupies a significant place in the ‘pooja’ tray at the Hindu kovil. The banana is one kind of fruit applied on the god’s body in performing the abisekham ceremony. This is dong to get the god’s blessings. The yellow colour of the banana is considered a sign of prosperity, therefore the bananas secure on important place in the trays used in ceremonies, such as engagements and weddings of the Hindus.

Parliment Building

The Charimas festival comes ones a year. We celebrate the chrimas on the 25th of December .Jesus Christ was born on the x’ mas day .the Christians all over the world rember this important incident. This is very beautiful and big. We decorat houses and Christ ma’s tree .We sing carols at night .We make chrimas cards and send. We make chrimas cake. We put on nice new clothes and go to church early in the morning .It is really a festival.Charimas is Avery happy day for all of us. We have parties and we give presents to each others. Santclaus bring presents to small children and ther are very happy to see their presents early in the moorning by the bedside. Everyone is very happy on this day.

Katharagama.

Katharagama is a very popular pilgrimage site in Sri Lanka. People of all walks of life throng to katharagama to pay homage to god katharagama. The festival in august draws thousands of pilgrim ms to witness the ritual performances of the devotees. Some dance with skewers thrust through their tongues and cheeks.
Others tow heave carts or suspend weights from hooks piercing their skin. The grand finale is the fire walking ceremony. The devotees walk bare foot on beds of red-hot embers
